Our Story

Being in education excites us with everything—the challenges, the triumphs, and watching children grow with us in their success stories. We help them find their path and become the best version of themselves. At Great Delight Private School, we focus on diction and reading, assisting every child to read confidently and speak with clarity.

We teach the Nelson writing style—a unique form of handwriting that emphasizes proper letter formation, consistency, and clarity, giving children a strong foundation in penmanship. For our nursery students, we imbue essential skills through unique play methods that make learning natural and joyful.

We've come to realize that character plays a vital role in academic excellence. These little ones can exhibit restlessness, and many parents don't realize that over-freedom has a negative impact on the child. A child could be intelligent, but with the wrong perspective on life, they can become ill-mannered. Here at Great Delight Private School, we teach three core virtues: Fear God, Be Intelligent (you cannot come to GDPS and leave the same), and Be Well-Mannered.

To every young person: be focused and not distracted, follow your dreams, and listen to instructions. To every parent: listen to your child, and don't take the place of discipline away. Together, we raise exceptional children.

Brief History

This esteemed center of learning began with Great Delight Private School (GDPS), which opened its doors on October 5th, 1998. Founded by Mrs. H. N. Agu, who was inspired by her faith, the school's initial purpose was to provide a strong academic foundation for children from Creche to Basic 6.

GDPS started with three buildings, comprising eight rooms: six classrooms, one office, and one restroom facility. Through consistent growth and acceptance, GDPS flourished and gained recognition as one of the leading primary schools in the local area.

After many years under Mrs. Agu's leadership, the school was acquired by Mr. Folorunso Kolade (Director) and Mrs. Esther Kolade-Folorunso (Proprietress) on September 9th, 2019.
